Virtual AGMs must not become the norm, campaigners tell the government

ShareAction, the responsible investment campaign group, has called on the UK government to ensure that any “virtual” annual general meetings held in the coming months as a result of the coronavirus outbreak do not become a permanent fixture of the corporate calendar.

Listed companies are grappling with how to stage their 2020 annual shareholder meetings amid the Covid 19 crisis, which has meant restrictions on large gatherings taking place in many European countries, including the UK.
