Stormzy has posted homophobic tweets calling people ‘faggots’ and ‘proper gay’

Stormzy, the chart-topping hip-hop artist, has posted a number of homophobic tweets, PinkNews can reveal.

The Londoner, who has hit headlines for his vocal support of Labour Party leader Jeremy Corbyn, repeatedly accused other users of being “a faggot,” “a fag” or “gay”.

In at least 19 tweets between 2011 and 2014, the MOBO Award-winning artist outlined what he thought deserved this kind of homophobic response.

In his mind, it was “proper gay” for men to dance, style their hair, show affection towards other men, not have sex before marriage or own a teddy bear.

Also included in this limiting stereotype was the act of calling another man attractive and not being confident with women.

Stormzy’s debut album, Gang Signs & Prayer, became the first grime album to go to number one in the UK.

And the video for his most popular song, SHUT UP, has attracted more than 69 million views on YouTube.

Maybe the hip-hop artist should have taken his own advice.

You know, before he called a child “a f***ing fag”.

Or before he called two women showing warmth towards each other “so gay”.

He appears to have referenced Eastenders gay couple Syed and Christian, calling Syed a “F***ing fag”.

Many acts have seemed “proper gay” to Stormzy, it seems.

But don’t worry.

According to the hip-hop artist, it’s extremely funny to position masculine stereotypes in opposition to homosexuality.

As well as identifying actions as “gay,” he has also used the concept of homosexuality as a slur against other people.

The revelations follow the unearthing of offensive online posts from other figures in the worlds of entertainment and politics.

Labour suspended Jared O’Mara MP last month after he allegedly referred to gay people as “fudge packers” and “poofters”, also alluding to anal sex as “driving up the Marmite motorway”.

And last week, famous YouTuber Zoella apologised for mocking gay and transgender people on Twitter.

The 27-year-old, who has more than 12 million subscribers, tweeted in 2010, when she was 20: “I find it funny when gay men spit…it’s like they’re trying to be a bit macho but never works…”.

And in 2011, writing to beauty YouTuber Tanya Burr, Zoella said: “are they honestly letting a tranny in a policeman hat speak to them like that? How odd! Haha x”.

The revelations came as a shock to supporters who have seen the star repeatedly speak out in favour of LGBT rights.

And Gay Times editor Josh Rivers was sacked after it was discovered that he had tweeted offensive comments about transgender people, lesbians, women in general, Jews, Asians, Africans, the homeless, anyone he thought was “fat” or a “retard” – and old people.

Stormzy’s PR company has been contacted for comment, but had not responded at the time of publication.
