Prue Leith has been accused of "ruining the Bake Off final" by tweeting the name of tonight's winner.

The Telegraph is choosing not to name the winner in order not to spoil the show for readers.

The veteran baker and television presenter tweeted: "@PrueLeith No one told me judging a #gbbo final would be so emotional. I wanted them all to win. Bravo" - then wrote the name of the winner.

Twitter users were devastated to have the final ruined.

One wrote: "Have you just ruined the GBBO final?"

Another fumed: "Prue Leith man what a joke thought I was safe on twitter until later".

And another said: "Are you joking? You are totally spoiling this for everyone".

Some said they were not going to watch the final after it was "spoiled" by Prue Leith.

However, some may think that the final was fruitless anyway, as they raged that Liam, one of the season's favourites, didn't make it through.

Prue Leith has expressed regret after accidentally revealing the winner of the Great British Bake Off, saying: "I'm in too much of a state to talk about it."

The show's new judge told the Press Association she was in Bhutan when she made the slip.

An upset-sounding Leith said: "I'm in Bhutan. The time difference is massive. I thought that they got it six hours ago. I'm in too much of a state to talk about it. I f***** up."

Channel 4 has been contacted for comment.

The three finalists are Sophie Faldo, Kate Lyon and Steven Carter-Bailey.

The final is the first for Channel 4's Bake Off - and the television station may be worried that the news will depress viewing figures.

This isn't the first time a presenter has spoiled the Great British Bake Off for fans.

Mary Berry let slip who left the third episode of the 2015 series in a radio slip.

Prompted by BBC Radio Two show host Chris Evans, who said, "you’ve already lost two", the 80-year-old cook and broadcaster replied, "wait a minute:we’ve already lost three".

Berry went on to name those contestants who had left: "Marie, Dorret and on the first week it was lovely chap with the little hat on."

Viewers were furious, with one tweeting: "Cant believe Mary Berry let slip on the radio who goes on  tonight! YOU HAD ONE JOB MARY!!!!".
